Where Did the Term "Sola Ecclesia" Come From?

You were all shocked when the truth was revealed that Al Gore invented the Internet. Now, the inventor of the phrase "Sola Ecclesia" steps forth:

Carrie,
I humbly stand corrected. Unlike Al Gore, I will admit that I did not invent the phrase. As I said in the vlog - I was unaware of anyone using it prior to my usage of it with White over 20 years ago. I am now aware of others, for which I do thank you.

That minor fact does not change the fact that I am not ashamed of sola ecclesiam - and stand firmly behind the statement. Sola ecclesiam INCLUDES the Sacred Tradtion of Scripture. Like the "three-legged stool" - Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium - all three are necessary or the stool falls over.

I am not ashamed of sola ecclesiam

Scott,

Some Catholics do seem to be ashamed of that title, yet it seems to be an appropriate label. So I respect your honesty even though I think you are terribly mistaken.

Hi Carrie,
I fully understand how you think I am "terribly mistaken." Of course from my perspective I hope and pray that your journey continues as mine did to overcome that thought. I harbor no ill-will toward you or anyone here on BA, or the other blogs I visit periodically and I hope you do not have any ill feelings about me either.

Scott,

I hope posting your video helps advertising your blog-

We're here for you!

Thank you James. I didn't ask for it to be posted, and to be clear I reiterate I didn't claim absolutely to have coined the term - I said I was not aware of anyone using it before me. Carrie has pointed others out who did. I believe I have appropriately thanked Carrie for this.

I would also point out (again) even though I do get some visits from things posted here, a majority of hits to the CathApol Blog come from elsewhere. But hey, I'll accept all the free publicity you want to share. Where I'm actually the busiest is on the Catholic Debate Forum (CDF) where there were over 1600 postings last month alone. The threaded discussions on CDF are actually more conducive to ongoing debate/discussion than blogs - but blogs do have their place.
